The Ale House
In The Old Town Of Innsbruck

Right next to the Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl) in the town centre of Innsbruck you may enjoy at Stiftskeller a perfectly tempered Augustiner beer, brewed according to the German Beer Purity Law of 1516. You are wondering about what turns us into an ale house? It is not the large selection of different types of beer; it is the quality and the taste of the hop juice from Augustiner brewery in Munich giving us this name. In 2009 Conrad Seidl as “Pope of Beer” awarded us as Tyrolean Ale House of the Year and we take the liberty to keep this byname.

On Thursday and Friday evenings we draw Augustiner beer from a traditional wooden barrel. Following the Oktoberfest motto in Munich “O’zapft is” we do originally tap the barrel. And when the barrel is - “oans, zwoa, drei (aus) gsuffa” - finished, we still offer Augustiner Edelstoff – the bright export beer, Vollbier – a light beer, Dunkles Bier – dark beer, as well as wheat beer in bottles and according to the season Helles Bock – a full-bodied strong beer, or the beer for strong men, the Maximator!
